This text skillfully and thoughtfully combines the areas of microbiology, biotechnology and environmental engineering into a single interesting and useful resource. The book is well presented and laid out with many good quality case studies and photos. If there is any criticism then it is levelled at the non-scientific based, more sapient discussion that arises occasionally. According to the preface this book is aimed at academics and practitioners, but it provides a good overview of the whole bioremediation 'world' that will provide useful to all interested in the area. All areas associated are covered in one way or another. Scientifically, the information is informative and up-to-date. Recent examples are used for many of the applications, environmental cleaned up sites and works of engineering. Only the most fringe of technologies is omitted.
