Sinopsis de Aquatic microbiology

This supplement contains virtually all the papers presented at the SfAM Symposium on Aquatic Microbiology held at the University of Lancaster in July 1998, the last veing held in 1984. It was instructive to revisit the papers from 1984 and those publised in the symposium supplement; no mention here of PCR, PFGE, 16s rRNA, etc. How very different today where the use of these techniques has revolutionized our understanding of microbial evolution and ecology, amply demonstrated by the papers in this supplement.
